Dr. Kathryn Gibson, DVM
A native of Austin Texas, Dr. Kathryn Gibson is a General Practitioner and the owner of Comal Pet Hospital.
Dr. Gibson credits her parents with having encouraged her to follow her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. Now that she is a veterinarian and owner of her own practice, she says that all of the hard work is made worthwhile by the pleasure she derives in helping clients ensure their pets lead long and healthy lives.
After graduating high school in Austin, Dr. Gibson entered Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2000. During her undergraduate studies, Dr. Gibson was a member of the college’s women’s basketball team and the Delta Delta Delta social sorority.
In 2003, Dr. Gibson enrolled in Texas A& M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Her area of particular professional interest is dentistry and she is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. In October of 2010, Dr. Gibson became the owner of Comal Animal Clinic, the predecessor of Comal Pet Hospital.
Dr. Gibson and her husband David are the proud parents of two daughters. Their animal family consists of a Golden Retriever named Oliver, Rhodesian Ridgeback named April, and 3 cats: Ike, Peanut and Froyo. Her interests include traveling, reading, enjoying the outdoors, watching Spurs basketball, and playing basketball.
Dr. Brandon McBride, DVM
Dr. Brandon McBride joined the veterinary team at Comal Pet Hospital in June 2015, marking a return to his earliest roots in the Texas Hill Country.
Dr. McBride was born in Fredricksburg, Texas, but his family traveled quite a bit during his school years and he ended up in Albany, TX.
Dr. McBride completed his undergraduate education at Texas A&M University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Range Land Ecology in 2001. After graduating, Dr. McBride made his next stop in Houston, where he worked for an Environmental Services Group. He moved to Austin shortly thereafter, when he began working as a Veterinary Technician and developed his passion for becoming a veterinarian.
Dr. McBride attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University, receiving his doctorate in 2009. He was then employed by Kansas State as a surgical intern for an additional year with a focus on large animal orthopedics.
